We will not be silent

Why do we target U.S. Senator John Fetterman?

Some of our opponents, and even some of our allies, have questioned why we continue to gather at Fetterman’s office when it’s clear that Senator Fetterman has doubled down on his support for Israel’s U.S.-funded war, has rejected any dialogue with peace advocates, and has remained callously indifferent to the deaths and injuries of tens of thousands of children and other civilians in Gaza.

The answer to this question is simple.

Fridays @ Fetterman’s is no longer about changing John Fetterman; F@F is about OUR refusal to be invisible or silent while our tax dollars are used for weapons of destruction that are deployed in war crimes against innocent children and civilians in Gaza.

Watch a video of our April 11, 2024 interaction with Senator Fetterman and decide for yourself.

More about F@F and Fetterman below…

Why Fetterman, cont’d

Yes, Fetterman is now a symbol of colonialism, militarism, and racism, and his headquarters at the U.S. Custom House in Philadelphia has come to be one of the physical focal points in Philadelphia of Israel’s U.S-funded war in Gaza.

All movements require evocative symbols and tangible focal points to direct their messages.

However, it’s critical to understand that F@F is just a Friday gathering space; it is NOT a rest stop.

What is more important are the action steps we all take on the following Saturdays through Thursdays after each Friday vigil.

We lobby our elected officials, we attend other events organized by allied coalitions and organizations, we educate ourselves about the war and its root causes, and we plan nonviolent disruptions like our civil disobedience action on April 11, 2024, when 18 people were arrested at simultaneous sit-ins at Fetterman’s Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. offices.

So, while we hope you will consider joining us on a Friday afternoon, we implore you to choose some day and time each week to stand up and speak out against Israel’s U.S.-funded war on Gaza.
